Community Insight Australia is a translation of the UK Community Insight tool, a collaboration between housing think-do-tank Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust (HACT)and social policy data experts Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion (OCSI). They were recently nominated for an Open Data Innovation Award by the Open Data Institute.
The Community Insight tool was launched by HACT and OCSI in 2013. The tool is currently used by over 100 UK organisations, including housing providers and UK Government agencies.
Community Insight (UK) are supporting the translation of their tool to Australia. HACT helps the Community Insight Australia team support users to get the most out of the tool and OSCI has built the Community Insight tool and continues to maintain it and update the data.
It has a proven track record with a strong and loyal subscriber base. It attracted over 50 subscribers in first 18 months from it’s 2013 launch. Over 3 renewal periods, Community Insight (UK) has only lost 5 subscribers, but three of those re-subscribed within a year without the tool!
Community Insight was developed by its users for its users. OCSI and HACT brought a group of social housing providers together and asked them to create a way to access the data they wanted about their communities. The Community Insight tool has improved over its time in the market and continues to find new ways to help organisations get the most out of location-based data.
